Why would I need an Apicoectomy?

When the infection still presents, even after your non-surgical root canal treatment, you may be able to save the tooth, support healing and prevent the need for extraction by receiving an Apicoectomy, or root-end surgery. Make an appointment with NYC Board Certified Endodontist, Dr. Jamie Lee and her team at New York Endodontics Studio to have your tooth evaluated and a plan made for treatment.

What is an Apicoectomy and why should I choose New York Endodontics Studio?

Dr. Lee and her team use state-of-the-art microscopic technology for precision and accuracy in performing an Apicoectomy. This minimally-invasive procedure opens the gum tissue near the tooth and the infected tissue at the very tip of the root is removed. The root canal is then cleaned and sealed to prevent reinfection and the gum tissue is sutured. Following an Apicoectomy, the bone will naturally heal around the root ends and restore the tooth’s full function.

For the patient’s comfort, a local anesthetic is placed around the surgical area.
