Data Retention
We retain patient dental records in accordance with New York State Education Law §6611, which requires the maintenance of dental records for a minimum of six (6) years from the date of the last treatment. Records for minor patients are retained for at least six (6) years or until the patient reaches the age of 21, whichever is longer. After the applicable retention period, records are securely destroyed in compliance with HIPAA disposal requirements.
